It’s been awhile since I’ve created a diptych from some of my photos. I should look through my shots from Seattle to see if there is anything I can combine. Yesterday evening I loaded my first roll of film into a borrowed Olympus Pen EE half-frame to try shooting diptychs in camera. I’ll see how it goes…

I created this image a few years ago to make a 3D artwork to donate to the Textile Muesum of Canada’s annual silent auction. The person in the photo is my friend Stefanie, and the photo is actually a black & white shot I colourized and placed on the background of the field of flowers.

A touch of glamour

Yesterday I realized I’m much more comfortable shooting on film than with digital, which is funny because I know exactly what I’m getting when I shoot with a digital camera. Or at least that’s the way it’s supposed to be. I think what this is actually about is knowing the camera I’m shooting with and having confidence in getting the results I want because of that knowledge.

The above shot was taken in a home studio setting, with a Canon Powershot G6. It was one of those rare times that I took a portrait with the idea of giving it a certain look with photoshop post-processing.

I was trying to find some suitable poetry or verse to go along with this photo, but I haven’t had much success. (Vaguely searching google rarely yeilds anything good in that respect.) If you have any suggestions, then please leave a comment.
