A good smile starts in the eyes

Fresh flowers make me happy

Poor neglected photo blog. I just don’t much feel like making use of you these days. Maybe some changes should be made so you’ll be more interesting to me.

There is a group self-portraiture project on flickr called 365 Days, and it is providing me with a bit of inspiration. The Challenge: to take 365 different self-portraits over the course of a year and upload one per day to Flickr. Though not interested in doing such a thing EVERY DAY, I would like to take selfportraits more often than I have been. I’ve always found them to be an interesting challenge to do creatively, and it helps me learn a little bit about myself. I’ve decided to set a goal of taking a selfportrait every week and a half because working on a small project is always a good way to stay inspired. The above shot is the first in the series.

Rachael, your self portraits are always so cool. Even if you don’t do the every-day-thing with 365 days, I will always enjoy your sp’s …. have you done any more with the water portraits?

this shot is great – i agree, smiles start in the eyes. actually they start behind the eyes… heheh

    Thank you Maureen.

I want to redo the water self portraits, especially after taking a look at the last week when I was selecting for a show submission. I need to borrow a better digital camera in order to do them. And also to finally do “AIR”.

there ought to be enough photographers where you live that you can easily borrow a better camera, eh? I’m looking forward to seeing Air!

what did you end up submitting to the show? ๐Ÿ™‚

This is a fabulous idea. I’ve been thinking that my photography has gone out the window and I would like to develope it. I’m not sure how good I am at the sp’s but i did really enjoy them & I’ve always enjoyed yours.
