Patterns of Space at Mary E Black Gallery, NS

Patterns of Space opens this week at Mary E. Black gallery in Nova Scotia. It’s an exhibition of my paper cut work alongside the crocheted lacework of Catherine Thompson.

The invite created by the staff of NSCCD looks pretty cool with the combination of our two very different types of work together.

Patterns of Space invitation

I won’t be at the exhibition in person but I’m hoping the gallery will share photos once the show is installed. Patterns of Space opens April 9th and continues until May 24th, 2015.

Purely Paper Exhibition Photos

The opening reception for Purely Paper last Thursday evening was a packed affair. I was pleasantly surprised the show drew a large enthusiastic crowd to the North Shore to see the work.

Here are a few photos of the exhibition (mostly so my mom can see it), to give you an idea of what it looks like. It’s a good mix of work by the five participating artists – Joseph Wu, Connie Sabo, Mehran Modarres-Sadeghi, Anyuta Gusakova, and me. It’s a beautiful show and I could not be more pleased to be a part of it.

Vancouver Outside The Box: Toronto Design Offsite Festival

If you happen to be in Toronto this week go visit Vancouver Outside the Box at 1082 Queen Street West. This is a window installation featuring work by a collection of work by Vancouver artists (including me), and is curated by Dear Human.

Here’s a photo Dear Human shared on instagram yesterday. It’ll be our only chance to see it because none of us will be in Toronto ourselves.

The display is part of the Toronto Design Offside Festival and continues until Sunday January 25th. You can view my work in the display in more detail by taking a look at the blog posts I wrote about the work in December. Read them here and here.

Countdown the Eastside Culture Crawl

I’ve been doing a four day countdown over on Instagram leading up to the Eastside Culture Crawl, and there is one more day to go. It begins tomorrow and continues until Sunday.

One more day!!!

This is my fifth year taking part in the crawl as an exhibiting artist. I’ve already decided to take a break next year because I miss touring other studios, so if you’ve never been by before now’s the best time to visit.

e-invite

The Crawl has been extended from three days to four this year, and I’m curious to see whether more people take advantage of the extra day. I have my fingers crossed for decent weather despite the less than promising weather report.

Visit me at 1660 East Georgia Street to see intricate paper cut work, laser cut pieces, and installations. I have an event page on Facebook if you would like to RSVP »
